Petition to make UVO Free

A member of another Telluride forum started a petition to try to convince Kia to make UVO free. It's worth a shot, so sign on the petition - it's been brought to the attention of Michele Cameron, Executive Director, Consumer Affairs & Warranty Operations, Kia Motors America, Inc. With enough interest (i.e. signatures), who knows, it might just happen...

His post:

Please sign on this petition with your Telly trim and build date so we can signal KIA to reduce UVO suscription fees to little to nothing or at least extend beyond the current one year that comes with the purchase of a Telluride. If lots of owners sign on, we may be heard by KIA.

I added my name but it probably won't work as most manufacturers are moving to this model.

Unfortunately, I agree with you... but, worth a try. Canada gets it free for longer, so why not us.

Or if theres a monthly subscription it should be lower the payment, $5-7/monthly , is more convinient for us, coz theres aftermarket remote start via app as well ranging $7/month

It's a noble cause, but I think this might be something out of KIA's hands. UVO works over the cellular network, and since many manufactures who offer similar services use AT&T, chances are they're strong arming KIA or better yet, KIA car owners. The subscription is pretty steep for the features you get though, I doubt it's as data intensive as video or music streaming. There is possibly something that would make it worth it, not exactly sure if I'm 100%, but while playing in my EX's Engineering mode in the radio, I came across a list of hardware modules, and one was labeled WiFi, now when I order the car I found it a bit strange with all it's features Wifi hotspot not being one when pretty much all competitors have some sort of WiFi feature, such as my #2 choice the Subaru Ascent. So its possible the Telluride has a disable WiFi hotspot that would just need an Android update, (UVO is actually built on Android according to the info in Engineering) so if now that UVO subscription includes actual mobile data you can share over the WiFi hotspot it would make it a far more attractive option for some more people. And if there really is a WiFi module though it be nice to have it enabled for at least wireless Android auto.

Better to use Dash Navigation or press UVO button above pilot lights and navigate verbally from there?

Signed as well. For me, everything but remote start is more of a novelty than a must have requirement. Why try to market a vehicle in an upscale segment then nickle and dime potential owners for what should be a complimentary service?

If I remember correctly you should be able to check when your free UVO trial expires from the KIA owner's portal. It's the same password as your UVO login. Do check and let us know...

Subaru version is $75 for three years and it has worked 100% of the time. UVO? Maybe 10% of the time for me.
