Hello. I know the T just came out but for those of you that 'own' one, OVERALL does it appear to be a decent vehicle? Or is everyone having some type of issue? I don't think I have ever had a first year model so I am not use to problem after problem and want to keep it that way. That's why I am on the fence about getting one. Thanks

Owner since May and have not had any issues. I was a first gen owner of a Mercedes and you just have to be patient. They took care of everything for me. Hoping Kia does the same if necessary 😊

I hope they are good about resolving it too. Apparently water got into more than just an optical sensor because by mid day the tach, cameras, cruise, navigation and speedo wouldn't work and all of the warning lights were on. I had to drive it that way because I had taken it out of town for the weekend. After sitting in the hot sun for an afternoon the tach and cameras came back and the warning lights went out but the speedo, nav, auto lights, and auto wipers still don't work. Luckily it's not supposed to rain tonight!

I'm sure there are many opinions available on the web about whether or not to wait on the purchase of a new release.


Below is art of an Autotrader article on whether or not to buy a first year vehicle that I found worthwhile.

J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study often ranks first-year models at or near the top of their segments for 3-year dependability.
On average, the last few Vehicle Dependability studies prove that first-year models don't fare any better or worse than their longer-running rivals.
The conclusion: While first-year cars offer uncertain reliability, that doesn't mean they're going to be subpar.

Missed Improvements
Perhaps the best argument for skipping a first-year car is that drivers who choose such a vehicle may miss out on improvements that come later. An automaker may realize a gear lever feels better with a different knob and tightened shift action, for example. Or a missed feature may be quickly added after the first model year.
Shoppers who quickly spring for a first-year model will miss out on these changes -- and they'll miss out on any later special editions, as well. For some drivers, however, missing the occasional improvement is a small price to pay for having the latest and greatest new model.

AutoTrader's Advice
With such major advancements in automotive reliability over the years, it's hard to say first-year models perform any better or worse than cars in later model years. If you're buying a car and you really want a first-year model, go for it. But don't get mad if you miss out on updates and revisions that come just a few months later.

If nobody bought a first year model car, there would be no 2nd years with advancements... maybe I should wait until 2030 because cars will be even more advanced then.. fluff piece..click bait IMO.

That was me using their logic why buy now when the next gen will have better stuff..There will always be the next greatest thing on the next model.

Bought our Telluride on 4/9/19 and had for a week. Went on a 500 mile trip. 50 miles into the trip at 60MPH on the freeway with traffic the entire dash went dead. No tach, speed, digital speed with other functions and all the warning lights came on. Had no indications that we had turn signals or brake lights. This lasted for about 10 min then all worked like nothing happened. Called dealer to make an appointment on 4/25/19 when we got back in town. This happened 8 - 10 more times during the trip. One of these times it happened in a driveway. found the turn signals and brake lights did work but had no sound or visual indication on dash. The scariest problem (on the way back to town) was when the cruse throttle slammed on the brakes. We were doing 50MPH with no cars coming towards us, not coming up on any car but a car parked in a driveway way off the shoulder. The car behind us slammed on his brakes and almost rear ended us. We didn't use the cruse the rest of the way home. Took to dealer and they have had the car since. The factory is suppose to have a rep look at the vehicle on 5/15. Not very happy with the customer relations department at KIA. Don't know if we will be able to trust the vehicle to take on trips which is what we bought it for.
Hello, has Kia ben able to determine what caused this issue? I hope you reimbursed for your trouble

Is there any reliable way to determine whether Kia has acknowledged any of these issues, and more importantly, modified the production process to implement a fix? I searched for Telluride TSB's and didn't find any.

I would luv to know that too... The salesmen told me last weekend that Kia is aware of the seats coming aloose but didn't offer what the resolution/fix is...

467 miles on SX AWD model. Car sat in the garage for about 40 hours. Went to get inside and power was dead. I called roadside service to come and jump start it. After that, the speedometer is dead, both the cluster and digital, blind side assistance is dead, no cruise control, navigation is wrong, and steering felt weird.
Also noticed the drivers window will not close sometimes. HD weather doesn't work, always loading and a few times said I was in Kentucky when I'm in Missouri. Auto engine off doesn't really work most times.

Funny is that the dealer replaced the battery the day I picked up the car. They installed ac Delco battery instead of Kia battery.
Bad battery to cause that many issues is unacceptable. Anyways, called consumer affairs at Kia. They are ordering me a new vehicle. They are driving 2.5 hours to bring me a loaner and towing my car back. BTW, the dealership ordered me the wrong car. I selected the SX with prestige package but I got sx without the prestige package

Long story but 10 miles into ownership the check engine light comes on and turns out I need an entire transmission replacement! On a new car! Consumer affairs escalated quickly and they offered me 3 months car payments in trade to release all liability which is practically extortion meaning I could never sue them or file a lemon law claim. So no way am I signing that. The transmission was expedited from Georgia to CA so we shall see if all is well or not. So disappointed they wouldn’t buy back or replace the vehicle with this major catastrophic failure!

Really sorry to hear about that, glad you didn’t take that offer.
