Replace Tail Light Assembly

I need to replace the tail light cover on an SX. I'm pretty sure that means I have to replace the whole tail light assembly. Can anyone confirm this? Also, it has LED lights and when I order the part with LEDs it costs about $100 more than the part without. Can I just order the part without LEDs and put in the still working LEDs from the old tail light assembly? Thanks
