Correct. Our Telluride did not come with a tow package. When we purchased our Telluride, Kia emailed us a 10% off parts coupon.

I did not have a brake controller installed by the dealer. I use the the Curt Echo Bluetooth controller that does not require any additional wiring or electrical work. I tow a pop up trailer that weighs about 3500 lbs with this setup.

If your phone turns off it stays at the last programmed setting. Since it is Bluetooth it should still work even if you don’t have cell service.

I just set it up yesterday and went around the block. I will be taking it out this weekend on a longer trip. We have a Viking Vtrec trailer that weights about 3200 empty. I will let you know if we have any issues.

Look at the curt Echo trailer brake controller. Works off of Bluetooth and your cell phone. I just installed this today and took 30 seconds.

I just purchased the Curt Echo Bluetooth brake controller. Price just dropped to $229. Just plug the adapter into the 7 pin and connect the trailer. You adjust the settings with your phone.
