I guess you do not have a AWD version of the Telluride. Only the AWD has a lock option.

I looked on Kia Canada's site

Drive/Terrain Modes
Four different drive modes—Smart, Eco, Sport, and Comfort—ensure you’re always comfortably in control. Snow, mud and sand terrain modes are optimized to increase traction control to handle any road conditions. The standard all-wheel drive adds two additional drive moves. AWD Lock disperses the power evenly to all four wheels, giving you total control on rougher terrain.

Basically mud and sand mode is in addition to AWD Lock.

Maybe I picked up a Chinese knock off Telluride? Why is it different? I don't see a lock option.
Lol can you imagine getting a Chinese knockoff? Wheels fall off pulling off the dealer lot.

I'm probably guessing both Mud and Sand mode will engage 4 wheel lock at lower speeds.

I think Canada models has different options due to regional things. moreover they do same internally, send different amount of power to front and rear.

You're probably right which really shows Kia did a lot of market research with the Telluride and not wanting to repeat the failures of the Borrego.

There is a traction gauge In the center cluster if you have sx prestige awd. It shows where the power is going.

You can get power to all wheels in any mode, in sport mode with traction control off I can tell you that the traction gauge shows a 20/80ish split front to rear and is a lot of fun.

I can’t tell you what comfort mode does with exception of adjusting the steering and throttle response.
Is it bad to drive with the traction control off? You said it was 'a lot of fun', just curious if that gave it more pep and shifted quicker than with it on. It seems like it revs too high before shifting into 2nd gear. Not gonna lie, a quicker response would be nice. I know for the sport mode in my Volvo S60, it recommended turning off traction control and it had a punch, but it also had a turbo so I'm not expecting that much punch. Just asking. Thanks!!!

Turning off the traction control doesn't give it any more pep, it just lets you get it squirrely.. but with FWD biased machine, it won't be much fun. It'll just wear your front tires more quickly.
