2024 Telluride stuck in Drive

My husband went to pull Telluride in Garage He stopped, as he was too close and the shift gear locked in Drive.

He couldn't get out of the vehicle. I had him put the mirrors in and it still was locked.

I had him give me the Key Fob and I walked away with it. Put it back in the car and it then started and the shifter worked.

I'm leaning towards weak battery. Any thoughts? TIA

I did research to find out about the shift lock release.
