That's exactly how the dipstick on the Telluride works. Pull it out, wipe it, put it in, pull it out and then check it. Something in the way it seals at the bottom. I haven't tried the remote start from the key fob. I use it rarely from the App and it works well on the rare times I use it.

Have you tried removing the negative cable from the battery for 30 minutes? You may have to reset all of your windows and other things with memory settings afterwards. I'm guessing that you are still under warranty. If this doesn't fix it, I would head to a dealer.

Have you tried adding a gasoline additive that dries out moisture in the fuel tank? Most of those will also clean the fuel system.
