Wash Engine Compartment?

Been driving in the desert and the engine and engine compartment is covered in a fine dust. Would it be OK to use a light water spray to clean the dust off?

You know, I’m hesitant to use any spray on mine due to the exposed back side pins on the electrical connectors on this car. I’m wondering if a little dialectic grease might not be good preventative maintenance.
