Up until my drawing attention to it the Canadian Kia website had only the incorrect US version available for download. They have now corrected the problem. Here is the link https://www.kia.ca/content/ownership/ownersmanual/20telluride.pdf . This is useful if you want to keep the print copy in your vehicle and read and use word search on your computer. Note that there are significant differences between the US manual and the Canadian manual especially in the way the AWD is implemented. If you're Canadian and you've been reading the online manual, and are confused, its probably because you've been reading the incorrect US version.

Glad it's finally up, it's so much easier to sift through information on a PDF.

Thank you for posting the link. I'd been searching for copies, and aside from all the ones I found being the US edition, they also seemed to have missing image content. I could see markers pointing to features, but none of the background would show up. For example, seat controls. The switches would show up, but the actual seat didn't show in the image. Another example, page 3-6. It shows little red markers, but absolutely nothing for background image. Anyone else having this issue? I'm currently viewing it on a PC that's running Vista Pro 64bit OS, and it makes no difference if I look at it in the browser, or using Acrobat Reader. Tomorrow I'll try to open it on my Windows 10 laptop and see if it behaves differently.

The problems you report, for example page 3-6, are problems with manual not your PC. One can only hope more attention is being paid to getting the vehicle right than the manual. No problems with the SUV yet but yeah, plenty of quibbles with the manuals.

Phew. That's a reflief. I can't even get the .pdf to load on my Windows 10 Pro tablet... it tells me that the .pdf is corrupted. whiskey tango foxtrot lol Yes, the manual would be much better to understand if the illustrations were complete. I'm still waiting to get my vehicle, as it's probably about another four weeks before it gets delivered to the dealership. I'm guessing the vehicle doesn't come with a hard copy manual, but do they include a USB stick with the manual loaded on it, or something like that? If the manual is buggered up, I guess the next step is to being a conversation with Kia Canada to get it properly rendered from whatever native document was used to create it in the first place.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Actually my Telluride came with thick book manuals, 2 of them. One in English and the other in French, I'm in Montreal. I've had no problems opening the pdf in Windows 10 or 7 using Google Chrome. Between the book version when the pictures are needed and the pdf version for quick word searches it's all good.

Glad to hear hard copies are provided, as that's handy when you're on the road and need to reference something that might be hard to reference on the .pdf on a smartphone. So to confirm, are you saying you have no missing image content in your .pdf version when you view it using Google Chrome? Peculiar...

No, images are missing but the pdf opens with Google Chrome in Windows 10 and 7. I don't have any problem as far as the pdf being corrupted. I keep my English hard copy in the car and use the French version in the house for the pictures and the pdf for word search. Although French and English pagination is not the same as it seems to take more words to say things in French.

Could be worse. French sometimes takes a bit more language than English to get the same point across, but if it was German the words would be three times as long. lol (No offense intended to any Germans on the forum). Yes, that's likely the same way I'll handle my content as well. I like being able to do contextual and word searches in the .pdf documents, but initially it's just going to be a matter of working my way through all the systems, how they're manipulated, and what that accomplishes. As for Montreal, I know it well enough to get lost... last summer when I was driving through, I found that my nav system was pretty much useless in a lot of places due to the major road works projects under way. Nice city. I used to spend tihere back in 2007 when I was working on a project for Petro Canada at their refinery, along with the BPR Bechtel folks.... there offices were over on Sherbrooke St. E.

"especially in the way the AWD is implemented". Tellu What, can you elaborate a bit on that? I am still awaiting my order delivery so I don't have a hard copy manual yet. I've heard all Canadian units must have AWD, whereas in US FWD is available. T/F? So is the AWD in Canada actually programmed differently?

It's been over a year and a half since I've looked at all that. I seem to remember that the US version had a mode that allows for 50/50 AWD lockup at lower speeds, I forget the technical name for that feature. This appears to be absent in the Canadian Telluride. And the modes have different names or symbols. Best thing to do is download both versions of the manuals and make the comparison using the Kia supplied data. The situation is further complicated by the fact that I was dealing with the 2020 version of the SUV whereas you are most probably dealing with a 2021 model purchase. So perhaps your 'homework' should include all US and Canadian and 2020 and 2021 manual versions. By the way, I'm still very happy with my T-Ride.

I'll give you my rampant speculation, based on owning a prior 4WD SUV. With my older vehicle (a 2005 Mitsubishi Montero LTD), it was 2WD at the rear, unless you moved the selector lever to one of the 4WD options, and then the front wheels would lock in and you were in 4WD mode. If you then switched back out of 4WD, the front wheels were still connected but "free spinning". So here's where I'm going with this...

With the recent snow we've had here in Calgary, I selected the "snow" driving mode in my 2020 Canadian Telluride. Based on how the vehicle handles at that point, my belief is that though the vehicle is AWD in description, in regular operation I suspect the front wheels are free spinning, but once you engage one of the "driving condition" choices, they become locked in. I notice that my acceleration is affected somewhat when this happens. It's noticable. And very much like how my older SUV behaved when the front hubs were engaged or not.

Love the vehicle, but still getting used to some of the "features". Like how it automatically does certain things in colder weather, like turning on the heating in the steering wheel and seats, and then shuts it off after things have warmed up for a few minutes. Ditto with the "auto engine stop/start" feature. If it's really cold, it appears to automatically get disabled.... which is a good thing. I just wish I could get rid of that feature completely, or at least choose the default setting to be off instead of enabled. lol

Thanks for your reply. I will at some point check out the two 2021 versions for the differences and glad to hear you are still a happy owner.
