Is the

When you say garage do you mean the service dept at a Kia dealer or some local repair shop?
Service dept at Kia dealership I bought the car from. They had my car all day Monday and could not get the door to open. The manager told me a new door was ordered. He also said there will probably be damage caused by removing this door so they don’t want to touch it until the new door arrives which may be in mid May.

Probably what he meant to say was interior door trim panel, they may have to break it to get the door open, if it’s causing an issue for you I would ask for a rental or have them try to fix with out the inside door panel part being in, so you can at least take you friends with you when you travel.
If they can’t help ask them for the Kia consumer affairs phone number or call the number on your drivers door glass I’m sure they will be glad to help.

If you would like you may give me the last 8 digits of your vin # and I will see if the part is in stock or an ETA for you.

I find it ridiculous that I’m dealing with this with a brand new expensive car. I would think Kia would be on top of this instead of making me wait. It’s so disheartening and just not fair. I cannot use the car the way I need to and it looks like it will be this way for an extended period of time. Thank you for your suggestions.

This seems like a safety issue that Kia corporate should be all over. What if you had someone in the passenger seat and an emergency occurred only to discover that the door wouldn’t open. Kia engineers should be very interested in how it failed so they can root cause and resolve. I’m really sorry you have to go through this. Hopefully you have a nice loaner and not a Rio or something!!!

Thank you! We think alike! I still have not heard back from corporate so they are not all over it. It was at the garage all day Monday & I filed the case with Kia corporate first thing Tuesday morning. The only loaner Kia offered was a used dirty Sorento or an Optima. That’s unacceptable. I am currently driving my Telluride with the passenger door not working properly and still waiting for Kia to call me back. I’m in disbelief.

That's very scary to drive a vehicle where you can't open a door. Tell the dealer to provide a comparable vehicle or you will rent one and expense to them. Keep calling Kia corporate every day; if you were in So Cal, I'd suggest you simply drive there. If you financed thought Kia, Kia corporate could also give you a payment or two as a good-will gesture.

You always have the nuclear option to report the issue to NHTSA (www.nhtsa.gov) You are completely justified due to the fact that the passenger side of the vehicle cannot be opened from either the inside or outside of the vehicle which constitutes a safety hazard. Be sure to document everything. I really want this vehicle to succeed, but Kia needs to step up and take this matter seriously and nip the problem in the bud in the event other vehicles are or may become affected due to a parts or assembly issue. Another owner had the rear pano roof leak into the vehicle and Kia is replacing the car for them. Although you aren't experiencing water damage, your problem is no less serious (I'd say it's even more!!) Good luck

Beleive it or not, it is a common problem. The Subaru Ascent had dozens if not hundreds of doors that would not open. Turned out to be a broken shipping pin. Ford trucks had a problem with the doors flying open while driving, 1.3 million where recalled. Nissan is currently dealing with the same problem. Honda is currently recalling 107,000 mini vans for doors coming open while in drive.

Omg! Are you serious? Do you have to replace the door in order to fix the shipping pin??

I had a 2002 focus and after having it for a few months, going around a corner, the rear passenger door flew wide open. Luckily the kids weren't in the back(they were often). I couldn't get the door to latch back. Luckiy I had some bungie cords with me and bungied the doors shut using the inside handles. They had to replace the latch mechanism which they later recalled them.

Capt do you work for Kia? If you do can you share the part numbers for both SX and regular headlights? I think this might come in handy for those who want to swap them out.

Has anyone had any problems or issues with the Telluride so far?

I have just sent a second notice to KIA concerning a continuing problem I am having with the rear climate controls on my Telluride. KIA was suppose to respond to me within 48 hours, and that was over a week ago. I was hoping someone on this KIA forum might be able to direct me to a better way to get their (KIA's) attention. I've had it to the dealer already for an attempted repair, but they struck out, because they think it's a vehicle software problem, and a software patch hasn't been issued yet. I'm posting this here, just to give all of my fellow Telluride owners a heads up on some possible future problems with the electrical/software systems in this new vehicle. The email I sent, and the attached photo of the affected area are listed below.

"I bought this vehicle on 03/12/2019. The rear climate control refuses to stay turned off. I used all the correct steps listed in the vehicle manual to turn off (disable) the rear climate control button. I did this in conjunction with using all of the assigned controls on the front panel on the dash, the front monitor (plus I activated the "Locked Control" button on this monitor) and the rear climate control panel that's located in the ceiling over the second row captains chairs. When it activates on its own, it always ends up at fan speed 2 (of 6) and in the "Face-Level" mode. It never varies from these settings. My problem is the rear climate control will not stayed turned off. It deactivates (turns off) for intermittent periods of time, and then mysteriously turns on again at the settings I listed above. Also please note that there's no explanation anywhere in the vehicle manual what the function of the locked control button is. I'm left to assume what it does, but it most certainly doesn't keep the rear climate control off when it's activated. I don't want it running unless I actually need it, as it's more than a little annoying to hear the constant fan noise, and is a needless draw on the vehicle's electrical system. I'm at a loss how to keep it turned off, and would appreciate any advice, or repair you could make so that it works as it was designed to.

Attached is a photo of the Rear Climate Control settings it continually resets to, after both the front and rear panels are turned off. How can this be happening, as I certainly don't want it running in the rear of the Telluride at all times. Also, what is the "Lock Control" button for? There's is no explanation anywhere in the vehicle manual. Joe"

Thank you for your reply. Yes. I have checked twice, also referring to my assigned case numbers. To date, I have heard nothing by email, or my cell phone number. I'm also not the only one experiencing this same problem. I'm afraid there are going to be many others in the near future. :-(
