Peak Kia in Colorado Springs, CO charged $10K+ over MSRP!

CORRECTION: Total price, including taxes & fees, was $8K over MSRP ($56K) after receiving $1900 in rebates.
Selling price on purchase agreement was $54,435, which is $6K over MSRP, but it did include paint protection film on front end (clear bra); custom tinted driver/passenger windows; custom fit weather mats; and 2 yr free maintenance. They didn't break out these prices, but if I give them a "liberal" $2K for these non-removable add-ons, then Peak Kia's price was $4K above MSRP.

Crap like this sours prospective buyers from even buying even the lower cost models of the brand. Sounds counter productive to me... Kia and Hyundai are in the catbird seat on these new SUVs and add to that..the DEALERS know SOOOO little of them it seems the only thing they know is how to rip off. They should have a winner in them but will tant the flavor of a Homerun. If my dealer had told me a dollar above MSRP, I would have went to another brand. As it is, I am in month 3 of waiting to receiving my SXP AWD Tow... In the end... these practices will not help bottom line in the long run. Keep reporting these dealers....

Dealers don’t care, they’re in it for short term easy money, they’re not concerned about future perspective. Most of their sales people go from Chevy yesterday to Kia now, and to WV tomorrow... greed above all!

Point taken but..... KIA as a Corp. does not want to lose prospective buyers.... after all bottom line. $$$$$$ I would think Corp wants long term repeat...and loyalty is a good measure... If a dealership loses their expected income...I would think Corp will take notice and not in a good way... Just good business... IMHO

My dealer had a $5k markup on the SX I bought, but it came off in the negotiations.

Sooo Let me see how this works...

$5k added in the hope some one will pay it... or make the buyer feel like he "saved" $5k by removing it? Or...is this like a large dept. store hiking up their prices on Jewelry by say...$100 and then...offer $50 off on a "SALE"??

Just the fact that your dealer..."knocked $5k off doesn't negate them from trying to steal in the first place..... Your dealership still stinks...even if it was an attempt... End result.... you must have paid what you wanted. That markup should have NEVER been in the Bargaining bin in the first place...

Just my honest opinion... Your dealer STILL belongs on the NASTY list.

Demand is high. Supply is low especially SX Prestige Package your going to pay atleast $4k over MSRP. Great thing is there is up to $3500 rebates if you qualify for all. You will always get the $1500 rebate if you finance with KMF. If you think your going to wait it out and pay MSRP next year on a SX Prestige that's fine but Kia is probably going to raise the MSRP hence the trend. Just being honest...
Hello. Do you have any specific information on the potential $3500 rebates? Thank you

I just happen to notice the T's at this location run at least $3-5k + higher. Why is a LX AWD $38k ?? 🤔

BTW, the prices are no linger listed online. I wonder if folks were complaining. This is the only model on their site with the price listed. You have to call for details...🤚🏾

Sands Kia in Surprise was my dealership. In the process of looking into refinancing our car I discovered that I apparently way over paid for the extended warranty through the dealership. We’re going to cancel it and possibly get one through our credit union but I may just skip it. If your in the SW Valley of Phoenix check out Rodeo Kia in Avondale, my parents and brother really like that dealership. I went there first but they didn’t have any Tellurides on the lot.

I don’t get how a mark up makes a dealer “bad”.

Every business is entitled to a profit.

Sorry and yet agree.... what I mean is this...yes...businesses should be able to make a profit....those dealers do or....they would not be in business. My disagreement comes when they get so greedy that they are not satisfied with the profit made under MSRP but want 20% or more on top of that. Sure...they can charge what they want but the buyers have a right to NOT do business with their likes.

How do you feel when you have a project to do around the house and find...because issues that allowed lumber dealers to charge ridiculous prices on things while knowing people are in dire need because of say, tornado or hurricane... I have no love for businesses who take advantage like that...

So... I already told my dealer if they pull that with me... I will move o but.... my word of mouth will not benefit their dealership... If you treat me right...I treat you right. So...you do what you want and think what you want...I call dealers who try this rip off as BAD in every way.... I am ENTITLED to that as well.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion. Not going to argue about that. But I don’t believe dealers are taking advantage of anyone. If something is promised and not delivered as promised, I completely agree that is BAD business.

Some dealers will take a deal at MSRP (or under), while others will hold a premium and there are consumers that will pay above MSRP.

For every seat there is an ass. If you choose not to purchase from a dealer that’s has a mark up on their product, that’s fine. But I still don’t think that makes them bad for setting a price on a product that they are selling. They are not being shady, playing games, or being deceptive.

Now if you talk to anyone from the dealership (BDC, sales consultant, manager), and they promise you a price and when you get to the dealership there is a $5000+ mark up, I agree that is BAD business.

I think there is stigma with Kia dealers charging a premium, as consumers don’t view the dealers or the brand as worthy enough to mark up the MSRP of a Kia branded vehicle.

But when Dodge Charger Hellcats, Ford Mustangs, or Toyota Supras get marked up the typical buyer on those vehicles understand why...

Supply and demand is very prevalent with the Kia Telluride and I think dealers are going to maximize on this opportunity.

Dealers...Charge what you can...I get it. The thing is when you have 20 or 30 on your lot, advantage buyer. All's fair

Check out this email I received.
Yeah they had seven or so on the lot a couple weeks ago when I went to cancel my extended warranty or gap insurance (can’t remember which trip it was). I love my Telluride, but not the dealership. I’ll be dealing with Rodeo Kia in Avondale from here on out.
