Who disables Auto Start-Stop when they drive?

Yes -- looking back, I'll give that auto hold was compared to ISG in the early posts of #17-#20 (page 1).

I use the auto stop eliminator harness that is installed and it work great. Best money ever spent.

It's nice that the device allows you to still use ISG if you want.

I tried lifting the center console piece and it doesn't want to budge. I am a little afraid of breaking the plastic. Any tips you can tell me? TIA

I'm sure auto stop eliminator is great, but so is the small piece of plastic I have we wedged between the button and side of the casement.

I have bought and installed the eliminator. I figured out how to lift the center console plate. NBD
The small piece of plastic jury-rig is ok but any time you want to engage ISG, you have to fiddle with that piece to take it out. I can think of at least one instance where I would want to use ISG. That would be if stuck in an hour or two of backed up traffic due to an accident. With the eliminator, you just push the button again.

Some people do not want to buy it because of being afraid it will void the warranty. IF I were to ever get some electronic gremlin that needed to be repaired by KIA, it is a VERY simple matter to de-install the device - no more than 5 minutes total. And when the gremlin is fixed, another 5 minutes and good to go.

Do you have any stats on the longevity of the car battery? Like less battery life?

It would be nice if Kia gave us the ability to see a changeable "note" on the cluster when the Telluride is first started up ----like--- Turn OFF Auto On/Off.

Now why would they do that when their whole purpose is to be in compliance with the federal mandate?

Just saw this, and you probably figured this out already. It does not just lift. I had to pry the sides loose, then lift the console. In mine, the side pieces were VERY stiff and hard to move. Pry one side loose and hold it in place with a BIC pen. Do the other side, and then used a plastic pry tool to lift the center. It was annoying to do, but worth it. I would not like to jam the switch with something to make it work - especially since this device doesn't disable autostop buy maintains the last way the autostop option was set.

Are you certain it's a federal mandate? While shopping 2024 vehicles a couple weeks back (landing on the Telluride) we looked at the Ford Explorer and test drove one. It did not have automatic start stop. On the window sticker that listed all the options and packages, included was "auto stop start delete" and a $55 credit. I believe that manufacturers are merely struggling to meet CAFE standards and this feature gains them a tiny bit better fuel mileage in autos that are often stuck for long periods in stop and go traffic.
Lastly, you show you have 80% tint on the front windows? VA state law is that front side windows must allow more than 50% light in. I can't speak for VA law enforcement, but here in FL, the police call windows that are tinted too darkly "probable cause." I learned the hard way.

I disable it when I drive. Somewhere there is a stat that it takes more fuel to start and engine than let it run.

I turn it off to save wear and tear on both the starter and battery. My primary concern is the battery…this car seems to draw heavily on the battery without the engine running…curious to know if others here with longer Telluride experience have had any battery problems (I have a new 2024 X-Pro with only 5000 miles so far)?

Auto stop start is not a government mandate, it’s a “feature” desired to save fuel.

There are plug & play modules that will remember the last or desired setting. I used one to keep my auto stop on off all the time.

It frightens me to think so many are ignorant/willing to accept ridiculous “federal mandates” anyway.

I would think it would reduce the life of the starter.. Look at delivery trucks or mail trucks, They have to shut off the truck at every stop. I was told by my friend who was a mailman that his vehicle went through a starter about every year or two.

I also prefer to have the Auto Start-Stop feature disabled while driving. This can be annoying and inconvenient, especially in city traffic or on long stop-and-go trips. Disabling this feature may improve the smoothness and overall driving experience.
