Front Parking Camera System for Non-SX Trims

All of the parts I used were from Amazon because I don't like waiting :)
  • Replacement Rear View Mirror w/ built in 4.3" Monitor
    • Cheapest I've found on Amazon with Prime. Quick and easy swap. The only issue I have is that there's a blue haze to the mirror.
  • Backup Camera
    • You'll need a backup camera that has the ability to mirror. This one can mirror and remove it's guidelines.
  • Wireless Video Transmitter and Receiver
    • You don't need to go this route. I went this route because I didn't want to waste time going through the firewall. The downside is that you get static in your image every now and then depending on the placement of the transmitter and receiver.
  • Micro2 Add-A-Circuit
    • I got a 10 pack because I am doing other projects. For this project you only need 1 unless you're doing the wireless route, then you'll need 2.

Anyone outside of the SX trim run a front parking camera system yet?

I am in the middle of finishing mine, but am waiting on a few parts to show up.

I am running a replacement rear-view mirror monitor for this setup. I also plan on bridging the rear-view camera into it.
I'd like to see the results once your done 😊

Finished doing my setup. I'll post a picture of the monitor when it gets darker. The camera can't catch it because of the glare. However, in person I can see the monitor just fine.

How did you drill the holes for that camera in such a tight space?

Did you route the wire so that if the airbag went off, it wouldn't fling a cable at you? Also for clarification, you can remove that pillar cover. It's just clips right?

Correct. You don't need to remove the cover just the weather stripping. The way I routed it is out of the way of the airbag. If you remove the cover most likely you'll route within the way of the airbag.

Great looking install! Just joined the forum looking exactly for this. I have a couple questions. Which ports did you plug in the mirror and the camera? Where did you place the wireless receiver and transmitter? Thanks!

So, from what I can see in the pics, you:
Powered the camera from the fuse box under the hood.
Ran the low voltage line from the camera through the engine compartment up the pillar and over to the mirror/camera.
The mirror/camera receive power from the cord that was already there? Or, did you have to run something to the fuse box by the OBD connector in the cabin (not sure why that pic was included)?
How do you turn on the camera in the mirror? Most of the ones I've read about require hookup to the reverse lights to trigger the camera. Is there a button on the mirror/camera to turn it on/off?
Thanks.

Do you have any updates on this, trying to do same on a 2023 Telluride EX. Did you keep this mirror tho it has a blueish hue or did you change it out to a better one? Little more detail on how it's wired if you could. You used a fuse tap to grab power for the mirror, where did connection for the camera to mirror go and still using wireless transmitter or have you hardwired it the link for the wireless transmitter no longer work

I am doing this as well. I thought this camera looked very good and almost OEM. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CMBXWCBL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I am also using this mirror because it does not have the blue tint. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K9N11V4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1
I will post an update in about a month when I get around to the install.
