New member with hopefully not another wasted question on warranty. If change the plastic oil filter housing with an aluminium one plus better gasket do I trigger a warranty problem?
Thanks for any help.

I don't know that I've seen anyone post one way or the other on this. It seems like the greatest risk is if it is not installed properly, leaks and then damages the engine, they may not honor the warranty due to the modification. I just received a letter from KIA today extending the warranty on an oil leak from the oil filter housing. It extends the warranty from 5 years/60,000 miles to 15 years/150,000 miles for repairs related to an engine oil leak from the oil filter housing gasket.

If the aluminum housing leaks, cracks, causes oil pressure problems, damages threads, or contributes to engine damage, Kia technically could deny coverage for those related repairs.

In response my greater fear is that inherent problems with the plastic cover maybe poor gasket et al will be a better long term solution to the plastic issue. I did speak with the service manager at Kia and he said buy the aluminium one from parts geek or Amazon they will do the switch and so on. Still troubled by any failure there will trigger the warranty question. So still trying to
make some semblance of which way to go rather than wait for the inevitable engine failure or close to it? Thank for your reply.
