Severe conditions is 3,750 miles, otherwise it's 7,500 miles according to the owner's portal

6000 km ( 3728 miles ) is the recommended first oil change for Kia Canada

I have always done early first changes on new engines in my fleet , having said that " The engineers know best " mantra has invaded the oil forums .

I am torn . As a millwright I have done my share of oil changes on a variety of equipment and always felt oil was cheap insurance .
The real question is have they added some type of break-in factory fill ? ( assuming the engine plant dropped their break-in oil after the run in / initial test ) OR is it just plain oil like the off the shelf / dealer service type . Being the latter I would have no issues dropping my oil after 2K KM 's

I did first @ 1K, and switched to Mobil 1 synthetic - now every 6 months or 5000 miles from here on in.
Oil is cheap insurance.
