I believe he said he had to remove the retainers so they weren't touching the bulbs. The retainer pictured on the right side normally sits inside the cover.

Do the retainers serve a purpose. Will it hurt anything not having them in there?

It's to help the bulb from moving or untwisting itself off. Shouldn't be a big issue on our cars though.

You don't really need the retainer, it takes some effort to twist the bulbs off to remove them.

were you able to close the cover after putting in the new led bulb. Do you think there will be a problem with heat?
I was able to install the dust cover without the retainer clips. No heat issues here now that the retainers have been removed.

Received the original led bulbs from twelvolt yesterday and unfortunately he shipped it using the ups store address. Which means no return to sender.

Are you going to install it or swap it out? BTW whats the overall measurements on the bulb?

Well that is unfortunate. I have tried to sets with them so far and none have been up to my standard. They are getting a completely new to of bulb in about two weeks that is fully adjustable for beam pattern. I'm going to give those a shot when they come in.

Details on what were the issues on the second set?

Light output was good, distance wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. According to my LED guy it appears as if our model of vehicle is touchy with led bulbs. My telluride is the very first one he has tried retrofitting, so it is a little trial and error.

I'm back at purchasing a bunch of LED bulbs and testing them out again.

Got it, thanks for continuing to test these out. I'll wait for your approval before pulling the trigger.

These are almost twice the brightness of the original led bulbs from twelvolt and are brighter than the m2 bulbs. These bulbs are also 1/3 the price...

Just drove around in almost pure darkness and the lighting is great. No dark spots and the distance is pretty good.

Now compare beam pattern to stock like I did. You see that large dark spot on the bottom of the beam? Do you have some night shots of the new build you tried. When I had my last set I had a beam pattern just like yours and had some dark spots in front of my car.

Like I said. I drove around and didn't have any dark spots. Up close you'll always have a weird looking pattern with these led bulbs.

I tested 5 different bulbs in the past week and all had a weird pattern. Some had dark spots and some didn't. These came out the best. I'll try to take a night shot layer tonight. I already tossed my crappy stock bulbs lol.

Thanks @utmeep for doing the leg work, that must have cost a fortune to go through 5 sets.
