Sound Volume Using Apple CarPlay

I just started using CarPlay for music in my '21 Telluride. The volume is much lower, with the same audio volume setting, with CarPlay than it is playing music on the FM radio. I've tried adjusting the volume controls on the phone and in the audio system, but it just doesn't perform the same. I've also confirmed on the iPhone and in the sound system, there isn't any volume limits enabled. FM produces a louder sound overall.

What am I missing?

In addition, for some weird reason, the volume numbers only go up to 45? What ever happened to using a 0-10 or 0-100 scale?

This system REALLY needs 7 or more channel equalizer. WAY too much treble and the Quantum Logic Surround adds even more treble, too much mid-bass, and the overall system doesn't have very good low frequency response. Needs a real sub-woofer.

I'm using the Harman Kardon system in my '21 SX-P.

Had the same problem monthssssss ago. Drove me nuts. OTA update and Apple Update, between the two solved the problems. Make sure when you are listening to music, your volume on your iPhone is turned up.

I use Apple CarPlay with two different vehicles and I've found on both that they both maintain different volumes for whatever input you are using. In the case of playing music or podcasts from an iPhone, it is also dependent on the volume setting on the iPhone and you can use the equalizer on the iPhone and it makes a difference on the Telluride. Mine is a 24 with a HK system. I rented a 25 Audi a couple of weeks ago and it was worse. Every time I connected, it would play Google map directions at full volume and I couldn't hardly hear a phone call. That drove me insane. I'm sure that each vehicle manufacturer has some leeway in how they implement CarPlay as I rent lots of vehicles and it is not consistent from car to car.

FM radio sounds louder because radio stations boost and compress their signal before broadcasting. That makes everything sound louder.

CarPlay sends normal digital audio from your phone, which isn’t boosted the same way, so it sounds quieter at the same volume setting.
