Dangerous issues with Smart Cruise Control

With only 1000 miles on the road, I have experienced some dangerous circumstances using SCC:

1. With SCC on, you are in traffic with no car in your lane in front of you. In the lane to your right you have slower vehicles, such as semi-trucks laboring up a steep grade. As you enter a right to left curve, SCC picks up the slower moving traffic to your right and slams down on your speed, thinking the truck is the vehicle in your lane in front of you. If you don't correct this deceleration quickly, traffic behind you may slam into you.
2. With SCC on, you are in traffic following a car in your lane in front of you. A car from either lane to your left or right signals and moves into your lane between you and the car in front of you. SCC detects the loss of following space with the new car filling the gap and slams down on you speed. If you are not attentive to accelerate, you are in danger from being rear ended.

In addition to these two dangerous situations, I have found the SCC speed control to be very erratic when following in traffic. The car jumps and slows as the general speed of traffic varies. I have found switching to SPORT mode seems to even out the SCC reaction to varying traffic speeds.

I use SCC with Lane Assist off. It is aggravating when the system decides to turn LA back on while driving. I should not need to continue to turn LA off once I have turned it off at the beginning of the drive. According to Kia guidance, the NAV feature should also turn off with LA being turned off. However, I have never successfully turned NAV off. I do not need to battle the NAV or LA systems in the vehicle to maintain my speed or lane position. All this should be user selected and stay off when turned off.

Any suggestions to use of the SCC system would be appreciated.
