To remove the bulbs in taillight:
  • Open the liftgate.
  • Loosen the lamp assembly retaining screws with a screwdriver.
  • Remove the rear combination lamp assembly from the body of the vehicle.
  • Remove the socket from the assembly by turning the socket counterclockwise until the tabs on the socket align with the slots on the assembly.
  • Remove the bulb from the socket by pressing it in and rotating it counterclockwise until the tabs on the bulb align with the slots in the socket.
  • Insert a new bulb by inserting it into the socket and rotating it until it locks into place.
  • Install the socket in the assembly by aligning the tabs on the socket with the slots in the assembly and turning the socket clockwise.
  • Reinstall the lamp assembly to the body of the vehicle.

They are different bulbs. P21/5W, P21/5W, and 28/8W LL
Thanks man! And in your opinion do I need to buy a red stop led or will white just show as red with the plastic...?

I took a look today to see what effort it would take to remove the bulbs... I dont even see what panels need to be removed to access the tail light????

Looks like it's held on by two screw at the top. Do you have a picture of the lamp assembly with the tail gate open?

Sorry, it that obvious is it? I don't understand why KIA doesn't make replacing incandescent bulbs obvious and simple! It's just like the backup and side marker bulbs!
