Check in the manual, it has to be formatted correctly and the files also have to be of the correct format and bit rate to work.

Make sure you format it as @ucinn posted. It has to be done FAT16/32 for the system to read it. FAT32 can only support 32GB.

You should be able to use thumbdrives larger than 32GB, but they will need to be formatted FAT32 with a 3rd party utility.

I've done this for my Tesla's USB drive without issue. I haven't tried it yet for the Telluride as at this point, I probably will not be able to use USB playback as it is not possible with CarPlay/Android Auto connected.

Also, for those that want to use thumbdrives and have the slimmest/smallest drive, I use these in my Tesla without issue:

They are super low profile. I can confirm if they are compatible tomorrow.

Update : I tested the 64GB drive in the Telluride and it works fine. It is very snug fitting and flush. Note, these drives already come FAT32 formatted, so they are ready to go. I can take a pic if anyone wants to see the fitment

The one in the front console. It’s the only port that supports data. I’ll take a pic tomorrow.

I kind of miss my hard drive in my Sorento. It was nice to copy songs onto there and have your must have music with you all the time without having to connect to data all the time to use Spotify or Amazon music. I'll stop whining now.........

Honestly I was surprise the Telluride didn't have the hard drive either. We used it quite often in the Sorento.
