Dealer unable to give us any straight answers. Telling us it may end up being a 22 model, dancing around the question when asked if there’s an actual order that was placed. On the plus side, got a verbal agreement that they’d honour the same pricing we were given if it ends up being a 22.

I’ve started checking with other dealers in the area on the off chance something close becomes available. Going to check out a Black Copper Nightsky tonight. If we like it, we’re second in line for it. Haven’t seen this colour in real life yet, either way it’s an opportunity to see it if we don’t end up going for this one,

Thanks for the update! I wish you well with getting your preferred vehicle. You may luck out, as the 22s may have some cool new features. As for me, my dealer called yesterday and said that our Telluride has arrived in their stock compound, fresh off the train. We should take delivery in 5-7 business days.

Good to hear you’re close to receiving your vehicle! We took a look at the Black Copper Nightsky today, thought it was quite nice! The pending deal they had on it fell through, but they wouldn’t let us buy it. Apparently Kia Canada is forcing them to send it back for redistribution to the next person waiting for one, as opposed to allowing them to sell to someone in our position even though we’re ready to purchase now. Oh well! There was an Everlasting Grey SXL available, which was tempting to go for.....but think we’ll just hang on and wait for our original order.

Wow. That sucks balls. Did they at least tell you that before you looked at it?

No, they gladly took my deposit the night before over the phone, and failed to tell me they couldn’t sell it until we arrived.....even after I asked them to let me know asap if the vehicle became unavailable. They were really trying to sell us on the other SXL they had there. I was tempted, being they’re all so tough to get right now. We ended up deciding to wait for our original order, even though it’s really just the different look we liked better. If the SXL was in Gravity Grey we would have probably done it and done the chrome delete. Not a big fan of the everlasting grey. Found it had some purple tones to it when out in the sun.

It’s incredible how many different stories I hear from these dealers. One salesman told us there are always a few “extras on the boat”, usually in white and they have no way of knowing until they arrive, we just missed out by a couple of hours on a White Nightsky the other day that just became available. One the other side, we have our experience from yesterday, one right in front of us that we wanted and ready to pay cash for that they wouldn’t sell to us even though their deal just fell through. All these conflicting stories and lack of information is annoying. When calling Kia directly, they indicated to me that if after 2 weeks your dealer can’t provide you the VIN, they’re doing something other than a direct order. Not sure if that means waiting and ordering several in bulk? My dealer won’t answer that either. I’ll just try to forget about it and hope for the best with our order. I guess the worst could be it’s very delayed, a 2022 at a higher price. There’s worse things we could be dealing with!

Sounds like some shenanigans for real. I'm sure you're order's coming, though. Stay strong, and keep us posted. Yours is an interesting story, for sure.

My ETA has changed so many times in the last month that I wish I had never gotten a date at all.
5-26-21
5-31-21
5-24-21
5-26-21
6-13-21
6-8-21
6-15-21
But I have found a new way to "check in" on what's happening.
I had already set up a search on cars.com and it sends me email notifications when new Tellys show up on lots near me. So I look at the description and VIN of the newly listed vehicle and compare it to the Telluride Lookup info on Failcat. This lets me know the date when that specific VIN popped, and how many more might possibly be in line before mine. I know colors, trim, and packages can make a difference as to which they build next, so my system is flawed... but it gives me something to do as I've had nothing to look at since my VIN popped on 5-6-21

I feel you. That seems a little excessive, the constant pushing back of the date. My experience was much smoother. They said 8-12 weeks, and it's going to be in that range. I think it's probably not the best thing to give a customer an exact date when so much of constructing a car and shipping it is subject to change, especially now with COVID. Hopefully you will be put out of your misery soon! :giggle:

We had some good luck this week. The morning after setting up a daily search for new Tellurides in our area, a new Nightsky popped up! Got in touch with the dealer early to confirm it was indeed available, gave a deposit and went down that night to check it out. Very happy we gave the everlasting grey another chance, really like it with the Nightsky package! Just picked it up this afternoon and sent a message to our original dealer to cancel our order with them.

A couple other interesting/amusing things happened as well. When trying to evaluate the offers from the dealer (5 years of pre paid oil, filter, etc, key fobs, rims, dent, ding, etc) I figured I’d call the dealer closest to us to get some pricing on regular servicing. I explained that we were buying new and trying to determine if any of these packages were worth the cost. The fellow in the parts department was very quick to offer his advice that all of it was way overpriced and it’s better to just pay as you go. He actually said “it’s all bull****, don’t buy any of it! Maybe he’s a disgruntled employee…….but I was starting to feel that way on my own, so he just confirmed it for me.

The other amusing call I received was from the dealer we saw last week who wouldn’t sell us the Black Copper Telly, which I mentioned earlier. Apparently his manager “pulled off some magic” and now they were in a position to sell it to us. Even tried talking me into coming back after I explained we had a done deal and were picking up the vehicle in a few hours.

We’re thrilled with the new ride, and also feel very fortunate to have found one. Hope you have a new arrival soon! 0F04A989-61EE-42F7-BB2B-2C294D37ECA1.jpeg 872E44F4-96EF-4F05-9AFC-4A6F7AFCC91B.jpeg

That's wonderful! I'm glad it worked out for you. Fantastic looking car. Dealing with salesmen can be tricky, for sure, generally it's best to turn everything down. Sounds like some games were being played in your case. As for me, we will be picking up our Ebony Black Telluride on Wednesday, and will definitely supply some pictures of that here and on the picture thread. We wait no more!

I have ordered a 2021 Telluride SX on June 9, 2021. The dealer said they will have to factory order it. Was given a time frame of 2-3 months. When I asked the dealer about the factory order process, they said they will first look for one with the same specs with other dealers before placing the factory.

Welcome to the board, glad to hear your order is proceeding. Same story I got in April, and the timeline worked out perfectly. Good luck to you, keep us posted!

Originally ordered an Ex in early March, was told about 8-12 weeks at a dealer is south Florida. Beginning of June was told our 2021 order was canceled due to the 2022 production and was switched over to a 2022. Starting to get suspicious and frustrated after seeing others placed around the same time in March and already have their vehicles! Anyone else in the same situation?

We ordered ours in April but still no ETA. They did let us know that it also was going to switch to a 2022 . Worried it’s gonna take longer. They had said 2-4 months. On YouTube there are a couple of videos with people having their 2022s already so that makes me hopeful.
