2023 EX Climate Control Issue

I have a weird thing going on with my climate control. If I leave the climate turned on (Auto or Manual), and then turn off the car, it USED to come back to that setting upon restart. However, lately, if I leave the car for. long stretches (probably 4 hours or longer), when I turn the car on (remote start or with push button), the entire climate system is turned off.

Kia said to try testing leaving Auto on when I turn off the car, and that has done nothing. Every morning when starting the car, the climate control is off which is frustrating because we'd like to cool the vehicle off.

In addition to this, since our last trip to the dealer, the infotainment makes a computer chiming noise when turning off the car, but ONLY when there's no one in the back seat. If someone is in the backseat, there's no noise. So bizarre, but we've tested this several times.

I've looked through all the settings. I feel like it's an electrical issue or software issue. Has this happened to anyone before? and anyone have a fix?

I suspect this is going to be one of those problems totally unique to your car. Sure, others have had climate control issues and some may even respond here - but I doubt if any have the exact same issue. You probably are still covered by your bumper-to-bumper warranty, so stay with it, dig your heels in if necessary - but they are obligated to get it right.

Thank you. I’m getting concerned/frustrated bc this week will be 3rd time in shop and no one has any idea what’s going on.

Believe it or not, even though the mechanics are KIA trained, I think we have reached the point where the technology has gotten TOO complicated even for them. If you follow the Telluride forums, you'll notice time and time again, someone is posting about how dealer mechanics cannot figure out their problem. It usually results in KIA having to send a specialist to the dealership.
These are complicated modinkers!

Hi. I have the same exact thing happening. I’m actually taking it back for 2nd time today to dealer to see if they can fix this time. Will let you know. Bought car brand new beginning of May and started beginning of July.

Ugh sorry happening to you too. I bought mine in May too! I’m taking it back Tuesday. Please keep me posted and I’m happy to do the same.

Hi so I picked up car today and everything is working now. This is what they told me they did to fix: Technician performed a capacitor discharge which gets rid of all power to modules per Techline. Technician says it’s now working as it should.
He thought they might have to replace the body control module but they did this first. So hopefully it’s fixed. I’ll know when I start the car tomorrow. I hope they can fix yours…give them this info and maybe it’s same issue.

Had the capacitor discharged yesterday and today seems to work! Can’t thank you enough. It was so frustrating for us (as I’m sure for you as well)

Awesome, glad they fixed it. Yes it was very frustrating. I haven't had any more issues.
